ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

For Grades 2-5
Every Wednesday, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
First Day is September 8, 2021
Come to the LYSB Etherington Activity Center to hang out with your friends and participate in a variety of fun activities. We’ll do arts and crafts projects as well as play basketball, Wii, and much more! Snacks and refreshments are provided. Students from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools will take the bus directly to LYSB. Space is very limited. MASKS REQUIRED, space limited.  Fee: $200/year.

LET’S GET SEWING: Winter Accessories

Four Tuesdays: January 25 to February 15,  4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Grades 3 and up.

Learn about machine and hand sewing while sewing a warm patchwork scarf and winter hat. Machines and all supplies are provided although students are welcome to bring a machine. Students can take the bus from Lyme or Mile Creek Schools directly to LYSB. Masks are required. $140 includes supplies and use of sewing machines, scholarships available.

AMERICAN GIRL VALENTINE WORKSHOP

Saturday, February 12, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Grades 2 and up.
Let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day AG style and decorate fancy Victorian boxes, heart shaped cards and more! You’ll have time to play traditional games and share AG stories. Each girl receives a valentine treat bag. Fee: $35.

FEBRUARY VACATION WORKSHOPS

CLAY ANIMALS
Wednesday, February 23, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Grade 2 and up, Fee $35
Mold and sculpt cute clay animals using air drying clay. Create a habitat for your animals with cardboard tubes, pebbles, straw and more.

STILL LIFE DRAWING & PAINTING
Wednesday, February 23, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Grade 3 and up, Fee $35
Draw a nature still life with watercolor pencils, charcoal and markers while experimenting with a variety of techniques.

MIXED MEDIA EXPLORATIONS
Thursday, February 24, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Grade 2 and up, Fee $35
Air drying clay animals, drawing with oil crayons and watercolor painting with pencils will be explored. Try something new!

SEW A FOXY FOX
Thursday, February 24, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Grade 3 and up, Fee $35
Hand stitch a cute and cuddly felt fox and learn basic sewing techniques.

ENGINEERING AFTER SCHOOL

Aspiring Young Engineers!
Spring dates tba
Discover the spectacular world of engineering through hands-on, minds-on activities! Students apply problem solving and critical thinking skills to explore our S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) based curriculum. Participants will use a variety of mediums such as recycled materials, salvaged motors and gears, balsa wood, LEGO®, and more.  With activities ranging from bridges, to rockets, to green engineering, participants are sure to have a blast while learning fundamental engineering terms and concepts along the way!  Students can take the bus from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools directly to LYSB.  Fee $125/ five week session, scholarships available.  Masks required.

Four Tuesdays: March 8 to 29, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Grades 3 and up.
Learn the basics of machine and hand stitching while sewing colorful patchwork pillows, scented sachets and more. Machines and all supplies will be provided. Students can take the bus from Lyme or Mile Creek Schools directly to LYSB. Masks are required. $140 includes supplies and use of sewing machines, scholarships available.

Four Tuesdays: April 5 to May 3 (no class 4/19), 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Grades 3 and up
Learn basic machine and hand sewing while designing and stitching a spring tote bag and fabric headbands. Machines and all supplies will be provided although students may bring a machine. Students may take the bus to LYSB from Lyme and Mile Creek Schools.  With arts educator Claudia Mathison. Fee: $140.

MOTHER/DAUGHTER WORKSHOP: Let’s Start Talking

May 10, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
For Girls in Grade 5 & 4

Open the lines of communication with your daughter! Designed to give girls a better understanding of the changes that her body will go through during puberty. Topics will include the importance of a positive body image and how to deal with difficult situations. A fun and educational night out for girls in 4th and 5th grade and their mothers. Cost is $50 per pair and includes resource materials, goodie bags and snacks. Patty Cournoyer, LOLMS health teacher facilitate this course.  MASKS REQUIRED, space limited due to social distancing.
