PRE-PRESCHOOL PLAYGROUP

Meets twice a week on Mondays & Fridays
September 12 to October 28, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Ages 2-5, Twice a week for 6 weeks. $192
No classes on October 7 & 10
A group that meets two times a week with parents guiding their child in a preschool environment. Each week’s activities and an optional Wednesday field trip will correspond to the weekly theme and enhance the skills we are learning.

The LYSB “classroom” days on Mondays and Fridays will include 2 hours each morning. Free play, center-based learning, circle time, stories, art, and a snack brought from home will be taking place on our campus. The group will focus on building independence, social skills, cognitive development, motor skills and creativity based on the Montessori style of learning.  Later in the session we hope to offer parents the opportunity to leave briefly, on a rotating basis.

Optional: See the Out and About playgroup on our Wednesday schedule, to enjoy some fun adventures at various places in our community.

INFANT MASSAGE

October 31 to November 14, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., 3 weeks, free

Ages infant to crawler
Led by Arleen Sharp, IAIM Certified Infant Massage Instructor.
Infant massage is a great way to communicate and comfort your baby. A three week class that allows you to massage your baby while learning the full massage routine.  This is a relaxing time for both baby and parent with time allowed for socializing with other parents.  The International Association of Massage has been providing professionals, parents, and caregivers with information and expertise on infant massage since 1992.  IAIM massage promotes positive bonding, stimulation, and relief from colic and gas pains.  It also promotes better sleep.  Questions? TUESDAYS

MUSIC WITH MALLORY

Tuesdays, September 6 to November 1, 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. (no class 10/11)

Ages 0-5, 8 weeks, $96
First Steps in Music is a music and movement class for you and your little one(s). Children and their grown up will be busy experiencing many different musical activities including bounces, wiggles, tickles, circle songs, ball-rolling songs, lullabies, stories, and more. The goal of the class is to help children begin their journey toward becoming tuneful, “beatful,” and artful human beings. The class is taught by Mallory Kokus, a certified First Steps in Music teacher, performing musician, and mother of three.  Register anytime with a prorated fee.

HEARTSAVER PEDIATRIC CPR & FIRST AID

Tuesdays, October 11 & 18, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m, fee: $85

The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course trains adults how to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and the 2015 AHA/Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid.
Who should take this course?
The AHA Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone involved in childcare who has a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Including:  parents, childcare workers, teachers, camp counselors, etc
What does this course teach?
First aid basics including medical, injury, poison, and environmental emergencies, preventing illnesses and injuries and controlling bleeding & bandaging. Covers topics like using a tourniquet, shock, internal bleeding, burns and electrical injuries, allergic reactions, breathing problems & dehydration, diabetes & low blood sugar, heat-and cold-related emergencies, drowning, amputations, bites and stings, broken bones and sprains. Also covers splinters, nose bleeds, fainting, seizures, and injuries to the head, eyes, neck, spine, mouth, and teeth.

The fee for this class is $85.  Optional certification fee $22 (good for two years).

GINGERBREAD HOUSE DECORATING FOR LITTLE FINGERS

Tuesday, November 15, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Ages 1.5 and up, $10
A variety of Gingerbread styled foam houses, sticker play, and cookie decorating will be available for our littlest crafters.

WEDNESDAYS

FUN WITH ONES

Wednesdays, September 7 to October 5, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Age: one-ish, 5 weeks, $40

Your child will discover circle time, fingerplays, music, free play, & crafting for little fingers each week.  The fun continues in October on Thursdays (see Thursday schedule for More Fun With Ones).

BABIES GROUP

Wednesdays, September 7 to November 9, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Ages 0 to 1ish, free
For new and expecting parents of children up to 12 months. This group is casual, comfortable, and informative. Meet other parents of babies.  We will cover weekly topics of interest based on your questions and concerns commonly found during the first year of parenting. Meeting in the child friendly atmosphere of Mimi’s Place at LYSB. Join anytime.

THIS LITTLE PIGGY

Wednesday, October 12, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Ages 1.5 and up, $8
In this playgroup, children will have the opportunity to paint and decorate their own piggy banks, learn about different coins and types of money with a sensory bin and explore everyday play scenarios like cashier, restaurant patron and more.

LET’S BOUNCE

Wednesdays, October 19 & 26, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Ages 1.5 and up, 2 weeks, $16
This playgroup is all about balls – we’ll have bouncy balls, soccer balls, a ball pit and more for children to bounce their way from station to station.

LET’S PLAY GAMES

Wednesdays, November 2 & 9, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Ages 1.5 and up, 2 weeks, $16
In this playgroup, we’ll play both active physical games and basic board games – your child will practice taking turns, learning basic rules of play, and playing with others through childhood favorites like Duck Duck Goose, Twister, Operation, Don’t Break the Ice, and more.

THURSDAYS

SENSORY PLAYGROUP

Thursdays, September 8 to October 6, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Ages 1.5 and up, 5 weeks, $40

In this popular playgroup your child will taste, touch, hear, smell, & see in a new way at this group. Hands on fun to explore a variety clean and messy sensory play each week. Is there something you have been wanting your child to discover but don’t want the mess in your home? Let us know what it is & leave that mess with LYSB!

MORE FUN WITH ONES

Thursdays, October 13 to November 10, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
