No matter what your organization looks like – its size, age, capacity or unique qualities – you can enhance and enable your board’s best work.  We have read all the information there is out there, and there is a lot of information, but how does good governance actually happen? And how can you make it happen in the midst of the huge pile of work already calling you every day?  Patricia Dowling will share concrete best practices and research-based tools and knowledge that are informed by real life nonprofit experience.

Patricia M. Dowling, MSW of Dowling Coaching and Consulting will be our presenter. She has worked in the nonprofit community for over 30 years either as a Development or Executive Director. She has served on nonprofit Boards of Directors. She received her BS from Saint Joseph University in Social Work and Religious Studies and her MSW from the UCONN School of Social Work in Community Organizing and Policy and Planning. Her personal commitment to mission and values-based work that enhances the lives of others is what guides her every day.

Community Connections is a network for local organizations to explore collaboration opportunities for the enhancement of our Lyme-Old Lyme community.  All area organization leaders and volunteers are welcome to join us.  NOTE:  This page is temporarily hosted by LYSB, while the Community Connections website is under construction.

We launched in September of 2014 with a networking luncheon attended by more than 80 people representing more than 50 organizations.  We host three luncheons per year with networking and discussions on community topics.  Previous meetings and topics listed below.

Community Connections was created by local volunteers who saw a need for our area organizations to network and collaborate. Our planning committee includes:
