With Arts Educator Claudia Mathison. Let’s sculpt animals coming out of hibernation using self hardening clay. Create their habitat with cardboard, small stones, twigs and other natural items.  This program is also offered on Tuesday afternoon.

KIDS BAKING CLASS with JENNY B. COOKS! Mini Lemon Glazed Yogurt Cakes with Choose Your Own Berries!
Tuesday, April 13, 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Grades 5 to 8, Fee: $12 per household
In this Kids Baking Class, we will bake Mini Lemon Glazed Yogurt Cakes with Choose Your Own Berries! I will provide you with some berry options in your prep packet. We will top each mini cake with a delicious lemon glaze! This class is for kids comfortable in the kitchen, in Grades 5-8. Parents are encouraged to participate or be nearby as we will be using the oven during the class and we may chop up some fruit too. About one week prior to class, you will receive an email with a prep packet listing the ingredients and equipment needed for the class, the recipe, as well as the zoom link. Food items will need to be purchased prior to class. You will need a 12-count muffin/cupcake pan for the recipe. Even if you have more than one baker in your household, you only need to register one person and everyone is welcome to attend the class and participate. Join CT Audubon Society teacher-naturalist Morgan Allen and learn all about osprey! We will go over where they live, what they eat and how they build their nests and if we are lucky spot them on our osprey cam! Then put your engineering skills to the test as you build an osprey nest and mini platform!

MOTHER/DAUGHTER WORKSHOP: Let’s Start Talking 
Tuesday, April  27, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 4, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Open the lines of communication with your daughter! Designed to give girls a better understanding of the changes that her body will go through during puberty. Topics will include the importance of a positive body image and how to deal with difficult situations. A fun and educational night out for girls in 4th and 5th grade and their mothers (or other important adult in their life). Cost is $50 per pair and includes resource materials, goodie bags and snacks. Patty Cournoyer, LOLMS health teacher facilitate this course.  MASKS REQUIRED, space limited due to social distancing.

ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM (Grades 2-5)
Every Wednesday 3:30-5:30 p.m. , starting September 4th.
Fee: $150/year. Come to the LYSB Etherington Activity Center to hang out with your friends and participate in a variety of fun activities. We’ll do arts and crafts projects as well as play basketball, Wii, and much more! Snacks and refreshments are provided. Students from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools will take the bus directly to LYSB.

SEWING WORKSHOPS!
Four week sessions on Tuesdays, 4:00-6:00 p.m. With arts educator Claudia Mathison. Here’s your chance to sew on a machine! Learn the basic machine and hand sewing skills that will help you create simple sewn accessories and projects.  Machines and supplies are provided. Students can take the bus from Mile Creek or Lyme Schools directly to LYSB.  Spring Sewing Fun

    With Spring as our theme we’ll sew colorful patchwork scarves, cute scrunchies and cuddly bunnies.Hand and machine sewing techniques will be taught as well as pattern design and fabric selection. Join your friends for a fun sewing afternoon!

ENGINEERING AFTER SCHOOL with ENGINEERING IMAGINATIONS LLC
ASPIRING YOUNG ENGINEERS!
Discover the spectacular world of engineering through hands-on, minds-on activities! Students apply problem solving and critical thinking skills to explore our S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) based curriculum. Participants will use a variety of mediums such as recycled materials, salvaged motors and gears, balsa wood, LEGO®, and more.  With activities ranging from bridges, to rockets, to green engineering, participants are sure to have a blast while learning fundamental engineering terms and concepts along the way!  Students can take the bus from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools directly to LYSB.  Fee $125/ six week session.

RUN LIKE  A GIRL
Spring 2020, dates tba

A group running program for girls age 8 and up, training for a 5K finale!  Meet at different locations each week for a group run followed by half hour meeting. We will run on local trails, the high school track, and other locations in L/OL.  Our meetings will cover topics such as embracing differences; stretching; nutrition; dealing with injuries; “your look”; team spirit; stress relief; goals and plans. Fee: $55/girl.  Limited space available. Ages 8 and up.  

1-2-3 MAGIC: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12

This program is free and donations are accepted.

LYSB offers 1-2-3 Magic to help parents find solutions to the challenges of disciplining children ages 2-12. This program is based on the best-selling book by Thomas W. Phelan. Ph.D.  The group will be led by Arleen Sharp, LYSB Parent Educator.

CHANGE HAPPENS:  a program for children of divorce
Six week sessions meets on Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm
Change Happens is LYSB’s program for children and adolescents whose families are going through divorce, separation, remarriage, and custody issues. This program was designed to assist children through the continuum of family reorganization, change or upset.   We will address self-esteem, issues of loss, communication and transition.  Hands on activities will help young people express themselves.  All young people who are managing the emotions and hurdles of family transitions will benefit from this program which will be held at LYSB and led by a licensed clinical social worker.  Fee: $90 for six week sessions.  Pre-register by calling LYSB at 860-434-7208 x0.  All calls are confidential.
