KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS
For students from Lyme Consolidated in grades 3-5.
Wednesdays May 15, 22, 29 and June 5, 3:45 – 5:15 p.m. 
Lyme Consolidated School grades 3-5 will learn the hobby of knitting. This skill develops fine motor coordination while exercising both sides of the brain. Knitting has been a hobby for many young and old.  Ride the bus to LYSB.  Fee: $50. Scholarships are available.

SEWING WORKSHOPS!
Four week sessions on Tuesdays, 4:00-6:00 p.m. With arts educator Claudia Mathison. Here’s your chance to sew on a machine! Learn the basic machine and hand sewing skills that will help you create simple sewn accessories and projects.  Machines and supplies are provided.  Students can take the bus from Mile Creek or Lyme Schools directly to LYSB.   

  • Sew A Skirt: May 14, 21, 28, June 4, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. 
    Design and sew a simple A line skirt with matching accessories. You’ll learn hemming and basic pattern making techniques as well as a review of machine and hand stitching. For students with some prior sewing experience, Ages 8 and up. Fee: $100.

BABYSITTING NIGHT
Friday, May 31, 6:00-10:30 p.m.
Parents, do you need a night out?? High School babysitters will watch your kids for an evening of fun while you enjoy a Friday night out!  Snacks, games, and fun guaranteed.  Cost: $10 per hour per child (additional child $5/hour).  Sponsored by Girl Scout Troop #62858 (10th grade).  Adults will be present.  Questions?  Contact gs62858@comcast.net. ENGINEERING AFTER SCHOOL with ENGINEERING IMAGINATIONS LLC
ASPIRING YOUNG ENGINEERS!
Discover the spectacular world of engineering through hands-on, minds-on activities! Students apply problem solving and critical thinking skills to explore our S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) based curriculum. Participants will use a variety of mediums such as recycled materials, salvaged motors and gears, balsa wood, LEGO®, and more.  With activities ranging from bridges, to rockets, to green engineering, participants are sure to have a blast while learning fundamental engineering terms and concepts along the way!  Students can take the bus from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools directly to LYSB.  Fee $125/ six week session.

RUN LIKE  A GIRL

A group running program for girls age 8 and up, training for a 5K finale!  Meet at different locations each week for a group run followed by half hour meeting. We will run on local trails, the high school track, and other locations in L/OL.  Our meetings will cover topics such as embracing differences; stretching; nutrition; dealing with injuries; “your look”; team spirit; stress relief; goals and plans. Fee: $55/girl.  Limited space available. Ages 8 and up.  

MOTHER/DAUGHTER WORKSHOP: Let’s Start Talking

Open the lines of communication with your daughter! Designed to give girls a better understanding of the changes that her body will go through during puberty. Topics will include the importance of a positive body image and how to deal with difficult situations. A fun and educational night out for girls in 4th or 5th grade and their mothers. Cost is $50 per pair and includes resource materials, goodie bags and a pizza dinner. Patty Cournoyer, LOLMS health teacher facilitate this course. REGISTER

1-2-3 MAGIC: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12

LYSB offers 1-2-3 Magic to help parents find solutions to the challenges of disciplining children ages 2-12. This program is based on the best-selling book by Thomas W. Phelan. Ph.D.  The group will be led by Arleen Sharp, LYSB Parent Educator.

CHANGE HAPPENS:  a program for children of divorce
Six week sessions meets on Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm
Change Happens is LYSB’s program for children and adolescents whose families are going through divorce, separation, remarriage, and custody issues. This program was designed to assist children through the continuum of family reorganization, change or upset.   We will address self-esteem, issues of loss, communication and transition.  Hands on activities will help young people express themselves.  All young people who are managing the emotions and hurdles of family transitions will benefit from this program which will be held at LYSB and led by a licensed clinical social worker.  Fee: $90 for six week sessions.  Pre-register by calling LYSB at 860-434-7208 x0.  All calls are confidential.
