CASFY was formed to address substance abuse among the youth in our community.  Please join us for our next meeting in the LYSB's Etherington Activity Center.  All are welcome.  Please call the LYSB Director at 434-7208 with any questions.   If you would like to receive email communications about this committee (minutes, notices, etc.) please send an email to lymesyouthbureau@sbcglobal.net to add your email address to our distribution list.

A new Connecticut law went into effect on October 1, 2006 concerning underage drinking parties, and the liability of adults who host parties.  LYSB wishes to thank Senator Eileen Daily, Senator Andrea Stillman, and Representative Marilyn Giuliano for supporting this bill.  They have sent a consistent message to everyone that underage drinking is unhealthy, unsafe, and unacceptable everywhere.  For more information about this bill visit www.housepartybill.org.

Who is CASFY?

We are a community group comprised of community leaders, parents, teachers, students and local organizations that advocate and support our youth through education, communication and participation.  We provide education programs for parents and students and the community, as well as youth mentoring and leadership programs, and alternative activities.  We hope to positively affect the culture of student life, where currently substance abuse, especially alcohol use, is accepted and encouraged by peers.   Our goal is to positively affect the culture of student life, where currently substance abuse, especially alcohol use, is accepted and encouraged by peers.   The major organizers of this group include the Lymes’ Youth Service Bureau, Lyme-Old Lyme High School and Middle School, the Coordinated School Health Council, Lyme-Old Lyme Jr. Women's Club, Lyme-Old Lyme Education Foundation, and local law enforcement.
