Come to the LYSB Etherington Activity Center to hang out with your friends and participate in a variety of fun activities.  We’ll do arts and crafts projects as well as play basketball, pool, Wii, and much more!  Snacks and refreshments are provided.  Students from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools will take the bus directly to LYSB.   This program is full with a wait list.


    For Grades 3 and up
    Four Thursdays, May 4, 11, 25, & June 1, 2017, 4:00-6:00 p.m. (note no class 5/18)
    Blast off in this thrilling class full of young “aerospace engineers!” Students in this class will
    use a wide variety of mediums, including but not limited to recycled plastic bottles, foam blocks,
    tape, cardboard, paper, newspaper, string and glue. Using the recycled materials, young engineers
    will design a rocket while learning about aerospace engineering. In addition, chemical engineering
    will be explored as a method of propulsion!  Fee $110/ four week session.  This class will have limited enrollment due to safety concerns.

Four week sessions on Tuesdays, 4:00-6:00 p.m. 
8 years and older.  With arts educator Claudia Mathison
Here’s your chance to sew on a machine! Learn the basic machine and hand sewing skills that will help you create simple sewn accessories and projects.  Machines and supplies are provided.  No experience necessary. Students can take the bus from Mile Creek or Lyme Schools directly to LYSB. Fee: $100/session.

  • Session V: Let’s Get Sewing Animals
    April 18, 25, May 9, 16, 2017, (note no class on 5/2) 4:00-6:00 p.m.
    Sew and design a menagerie of animals using felt and flannel fabrics as well as buttons, ribbons and embroidery designs.

Thursday, March 2, 2017, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Open the lines of communication with your daughter! Designed to give girls a better understanding of the changes that her body will go through during puberty. Topics will include the importance of a positive body image and how to deal with difficult situations. A fun and educational night out for girls in 4th or 5th grade and their mothers. Cost is $50 per pair and includes resource materials, goodie bags and a pizza dinner. Patty Cournoyer, LOLMS health teacher facilitate this course.  Register Here

A group running program for girls age 8 and up, training for a 5K finale!
Meet at LYSB for group run followed by half hour meeting.
WHERE:  Meet at LYSB (59 Lyme Street), will also do local trails and high school track
LESSONS: Embracing differences; stretching; nutrition; dealing with injuries; “your look”; team spirit; stress relief; goals and plans
Fee: $20/girl.  Ages 8 and up.

CHANGE HAPPENS:  a program for children of divorce
Six week sessions meets on Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm
Change Happens is LYSB’s program for children and adolescents whose families are going through divorce, separation, remarriage, and custody issues. This program was designed to assist children through the continuum of family reorganization, change or upset.   We will address self-esteem, issues of loss, communication and transition.  Hands on activities will help young people express themselves.  All young people who are managing the emotions and hurdles of family transitions will benefit from this program which will be held at LYSB and led by a licensed clinical social worker.  Fee: $90 for six week sessions.  Pre-register by calling LYSB at 860-434-7208 x0.  All calls are confidential.

1-2-3 MAGIC; Effective Discipline for Children 2-12

LYSB offers 1-2-3 Magic to help parents find solutions to the challenges of disciplining children ages 2-12. This program is based on the best-selling book by Thomas W. Phelan. Ph.D.  The group will be led by Arleen Sharp, LYSB Parent Educator.
