ENGINEERING AFTER SCHOOL with ENGINEERING IMAGINATIONS LLC
ASPIRING YOUNG ENGINEERS!
Rocket Science!  Four Thursdays May 10, 17, 24, 31, 2018, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
For ages 9-14.
Blast off in this thrilling class full of young “aerospace engineers!”  Students in this class will use a wide variety of mediums including, but not limited to, recycled plastic bottles, cardboard, newspaper, string, glue, tape, and Estes® model rocket components.  Using the different materials, young engineers will design, build, and launch rockets while exploring different methods of propulsion and thrust!  Students can take the bus from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools directly to LYSB. Fee: $110. REGISTER

SEWING WORKSHOPS!
Four week sessions on Tuesdays, 4:00-6:00 p.m. With arts educator Claudia Mathison
Here’s your chance to sew on a machine! Learn the basic machine and hand sewing skills that will help you create simple sewn accessories and projects.  Machines and supplies are provided.  Students can take the bus from Mile Creek or Lyme Schools directly to LYSB.   

  • Spring Sewing Sensations: April 10, 24, May 1, & 8, 2018 (note no class on 4/17)
    Design and stitch cuddly bunnies, colorful headbands and an embroidered tote bag in this all about spring sewing session.  Ribbons, lace, buttons and trims will add sparkle to your creations.  Machines are provided although students are welcome to bring their own. Ages 8 and up.  Fee $100. REGISTER.
  • Spring into Sewing: May 22, 29, June 5, 12 2018
    Let’s get sewing! Here’s your chance to sew on a machine, learn hand stitching and embroidery techniques and make one of a kind fabric items. We’ll sew and decorate a spring inspired pillow case, colorful headbands and zippered pouches. For beginning and experienced students. Ages 8 and up.  Fee $100.  REGISTER

MOTHER/DAUGHTER WORKSHOP: Let’s Start Talking 
Tuesday, April 10, 2018, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Open the lines of communication with your daughter! Designed to give girls a better understanding of the changes that her body will go through during puberty. Topics will include the importance of a positive body image and how to deal with difficult situations. A fun and educational night out for girls in 4th or 5th grade and their mothers. Cost is $50 per pair and includes resource materials, goodie bags and a pizza dinner. Patty Cournoyer, LOLMS health teacher facilitate this course.  REGISTER

ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL CLUB  (Grades 2-5)
Every Wednesday 3:30-5:30 p.m. 
First day: September 6, 2017 Fee: $150/yea
Come to the LYSB Etherington Activity Center to hang out with your friends and participate in a variety of fun activities.  We’ll do arts and crafts projects as well as play basketball, ping pong, Wii, and much more!  Snacks and refreshments are provided.  Students from Mile Creek and Lyme Schools will take the bus directly to LYSB.  This program is full with a wait list.  To add your name to the wait list CLICK HERE

CHANGE HAPPENS:  a program for children of divorce

Six week sessions meets on Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm
Change Happens is LYSB’s program for children and adolescents whose families are going through divorce, separation, remarriage, and custody issues. This program was designed to assist children through the continuum of family reorganization, change or upset.   We will address self-esteem, issues of loss, communication and transition.  Hands on activities will help young people express themselves.  All young people who are managing the emotions and hurdles of family transitions will benefit from this program which will be held at LYSB and led by a licensed clinical social worker.  Fee: $90 for six week sessions.  Pre-register by calling LYSB at 860-434-7208 x0.  All calls are confidential.

1-2-3 MAGIC: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12
